Vote to help people help themselves in your community with NatWest

368 not-for-profit organisations applied for a NatWest Skills & Opportunities Fund grant in England and Wales in August; 75 are now in the running to receive a funding boost of up to £35k – and they need your vote to help make their community projects happen.

Great News - government has approved Sunderland’s funding application for £3.05m of European Funding from its Community Led Local Development pot (CLLD). With a further £2.75m required as match funding this brings the total value of the programme to £5.8m, for activity to be delivered up until September 2022.

This event is to bring together organisations who are interested in forming partnerships to bid into the ESF Open Call in the North East LEP area - Specialist Support for Those Furthest from the Labour Market.

In the NE LEP area an ESF Open Call has been launched to fund projects focused on providing specialist, well targeted and integrated support to those with multiple barriers and complex needs in the North East LEP area.

The call is for projects to deliver one or more of three strands of activities:

Here at VCAS we are well aware of the fantastic work that community groups, voluntary organisations and charities carry out in Sunderland. Now we want to see that work in action. We would love to see your images on the theme of ‘Voluntary and Community Action’ - anything from events you gave held in the community, to picture of your volunteers in action or from trips and outings you’ve organised.

Small Grants

£90,000 has been allocated to the small grants programme which is being delivered by VCAS. Grants range from £250 - £1000 and organisations must be based and operate on the North side of the city, they also have to spend their grant within a 12 month period.

Sunderland Cardiac Support Group is in the finals of The National Lottery Awards 2017


Voting has started for the National Lottery Awards 2017


They are in the last seven of the Health category. Winning depends on how many votes they receive. If you and your colleagues can help in any way they would be grateful. Voting ends at midnight July 27th.  If they are successful they will receive a cheque for £5000 for their charity.

Sunderland is celebrating after taking a huge step forward in its bid to become the next UK City of Culture 2021, making it through to the next stage of the competition.  Having made it to the final five, work is now underway on Sunderland's second stage bid which will be submitted in September - before the overall winner is announced in December. Swansea, Paisley, Coventry and Stoke-on-Trent currently remain Sunderland's close rivals in the hotly-contested competition.
