Last week NCVO published its latest round up of the voluntary sector, including information on: the number and nature of voluntary sector organisations, workforce, charitable-giving, and volunteering, for the year 2015/16 (the data, to be truly comprehensive, always runs at least a year behind).

You will hear a lot, locally and nationally, the next few months about Social Impact Bonds. Here is a quick guide to what they are, and the advantages and disadvantages.

Like so much innovation in fundraising, at the moment, organisations are advised to look carefully at the pros and cons of such models before investing too much time, energy and, in some cases, your own finances into them.

INTERVENTION - SUPPORT - EDUCATION - What you need to know whilst working in the voluntary and community sector

The Illegal Money Lending Team works closely with outside agencies to generate intelligence about loan sharks in local communities, Sunderland is no different.  VCAS have arranged three local events across the City, to provide advice and information about the dangers of using loan sharks and the consequences that can follow, in addition to spread awareness of the support available to loan shark victims.

The latest Charity Commission's recently updated guide Protect your Charity from Fraud is a useful resource for charities and voluntary/community sector organisations

Like any other sector, charities are not immune to criminal abuse from fraudsters. Fraud poses a serious risk to valuable funds and sensitive data, and can damage the good reputation of charities, affecting public trust and confidence in the sector as a whole.

The Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England have launched a consultation on extending the legal rights to have a personal health budget or integrated personal budget.
